about matt hughes

Matt Hughes is a UFC Hall of Fame inductee, two-time UFC Welterweight Champion, and a passionate advocate for military service members. After suffering a severe brain injury in a tragic accident, Matt experienced firsthand the struggles that TBI survivors face.

Now, his mission is to support veterans who have faced similar battles and to help improve their quality of life through the Matt Hughes Project.

why we started

On June 16, 2017, Matt Hughes was involved in a life-altering accident that left him with a severe brain injury. Despite the grim prognosis, Matt defied the odds, re-learning how to walk, speak, and live independently. Driven by his gratitude for the military and his own experience with TBI, Matt founded the Matt Hughes Project to support other veterans battling similar injuries.
